Active Isolated Stretching, All Levels

Jennifer Farrugia, LAT, CSCS, MSAT

Jen is a Certified Athletic Trainer. She received her bachelors from the University of Vermont in 2010 and then went on to pursue her Masters in Athletic Training in 2013 from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Following her Masters Jen also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Most of her background is in athletic development, sport specific training, marathon/half marathon training, in addition to prevention, evaluation, acute care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Jen has worked with a vast array of athletes at different levels from middle school athletes to professional athletes. Jen is Certified in Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), and Kinesiotaping.

Ryan Sears

Hello, my name is Ryan Sears. I have lived in the Jackson on and off for over 15 years. I enjoy all the recreation the valley has to offer including skiing, mountain-biking, hiking, motorcycling, and climbing!
Growing up playing competitive sports and suffering from lower back issues I was drawn to an profound healing modality called Active Isolated Stretching.
Active Isolated Stretching(A.I.S.) is simple, gentle stretching which targets the fascia surrounding the muscles. It can be performed both assisted and unassisted.
I first became certified in 2004 and spent the next five years practicing the unassisted techniques on myself. In 2009, after seeing how this amazing work had changed my life I decided to begin working on clients and interning with local personal trainers in the valley.
To further my skills, I traveled to Florida to work with the creator of AIS, Aaron Mattes. I received a second certification in the spring of 2012 for the basic stretching protocol as well as an advanced form of his work called Active Isolated Strengthening.
Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening are simple, affective techniques that can benefit people from all walks of life; from the 9-5 desk worker, to the weekend warrior, to the professional athlete. In the class setting we will perform some of the basic stretches to bring awareness and increased flexibility to major muscle groups.
